Donald Tucker  AIA, LEED AP

Principal

A principal of EDG Architects since 1974, Mr. Tucker has been responsible for the design and production of numerous projects ranging from single family residences and small group homes to large commercial and multi-family residential complexes. Mr. Tucker is LEED accredited and a recognized expert in sustainable design and production of multi-family, elderly and special user housing with an extensive portfolio of successful projects.  His knowledge of real estate development also enables him to assist clients with site procurement, feasibility studies, financing, and development coordination.

Prior to 1974, Mr. Tucker was associated with several prominent architectural firms in Philadelphia and San Francisco.  He received his Bachelor of Architecture Degree from the University of New Mexico in 1968 and was subsequently awarded a Fellowship in Urban Design at the University of California, Berkeley, where he received a Masters Degree in Architecture in 1970.

In addition, Mr. Tucker has taught Architecture at Temple University, lectured at numerous conferences and written articles on the topics affordable housing and elderly housing design.  He is also a principal of AHD, Inc., a developer of affordable housing.

Mr. Tucker is experienced both as an architect and as a developer developer and is thoroughly familiar with the activities required to bring a project successfully from conception to completion.

Michael K. Tucker  RA, LEED AP

Principal

Michael Tucker is a registered Architect and LEED accredited professional with a background in design, sustainability and historic preservation.   Mr. Tucker has diversified experience in project management and design for a wide variety of projects. He also has extensive construction management experience in the field, providing strategic leadership in the development and implementation of highly successful projects.

Since joining EDG in 2013 Mr. Tucker has been involved in residential projects from design through the completion of construction including both new construction and rehabilitation of multi-family housing, senior housing and mixed-use projects. Most recently Mr. Tucker has overseen the design and construction of more than 300 units of multi-family and independent senior living units at Metro Village Apartments, Silver Creek Senior Living and The Asberry at Barry Farm a PHIUS Passive House designed senior living community. Prior to joining EDG Michael worked with Amie Gross Architects and Beyer Blinder Belle Architects in New York, NY and served as project architect for the award winning LEED Platinum Brooklyn Navy Yard at Building 92 museum among many other cultural and institutional landmark projects. Michael holds a Masters of Architecture from the Pratt Institute and a BA in environmental studies from Eckerd College.

 

María Guzmán  AIA, NCARB, CAAPPR

Senior Architect

Maria Guzman joined EDG Architects in January 2017. She has over ten years of experience in a range of project types including institutional, recreational, retail, historic, rehabilitation, government, and commercial private projects.

Ms. Guzman holds a Master of Architecture degree and a Bachelor of Environmental Design degree from the University of Puerto Rico, and she is licensed as a registered architect.  She is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), and the College of Architects and Landscape Architects of Puerto Rico (CAAPPR).  She is fluent in written and verbal Spanish.

 

Timothy Powell  RA, LEED AP

Senior Architect

Mr. Powell received his Master of Architecture in 2003 from the California State Polytechnic University at Pomona. He worked for several firms in Southern California on various projects in the public and private sectors before joining EDG Architects in 2014. Tim also has an undergraduate degree in Communication Arts and has worked on several feature films as well as for several cable television networks including C-SPAN, Fox Sports Net and E!Entertainment Television.
